Gulf State Park Nature Center is the perfect spot if you're looking for a fun and educational activity during your Gulf Shores vacation! This hidden gem is a living museum filled with native plants and animals, offering exciting programs and hands-on experiences that kids will love.
What to Expect at the Nature Center
Located inside the Gulf State Park Campground, the Nature Center has some really cool animals, including owls, turtles, snakes, and even baby alligators. The center’s goal is to inspire visitors to care for Alabama’s natural environment by expanding their knowledge of the region’s unique wildlife.
Admission to the Nature Center is FREE, but there is a $3 vehicle entrance fee to enter the campground unless you're staying at the lodge, cabins, or campsites within Gulf State Park.
Location: 22120 Campground Road, Orange Beach, AL
Hours: Monday - Saturday, 9 AM - 4 PM (Closed Sundays & major holidays)
Free Educational Programs & Events
One of the best things about Gulf State Park Nature Center is its wide range of free programs, perfect for families, nature lovers, and curious explorers. Every week, they offer guided nature walks, beach walks, pier walks, and interactive animal sessions.
We attended the Alligator Adventures event, and our kids had an absolute blast! They got to see a baby alligator up close, learn fun facts about these incredible creatures, and even touch one! Gulf State Park is also home to wild alligators.
Beyond alligators, the Nature Center hosts events on birds, dolphins, geology, snakes, turtles, hiking, and more. Something is happening almost every day, making it easy to fit into your trip plans.
